![]() HARRISBURG, PA - Midstate Distillery announced the release of their first barrel aged spirit, Pennsyltucky Bourbon Whiskey, in October 2017. Midstate is the first distillery in Harrisburg since Prohibition, making their Bourbon the first barrel aged spirit ever released in Harrisburg, PA. On Friday, January 5 at the PA Preferred Reception kicking off the 102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show, Midstate co-owners Dan Healy & Brian Myers presented the first bottle from the first barrel of Pennsyltucky Bourbon to the Commonwealth via Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary Russell Redding of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. “We truly appreciate the opportunity to present our first bottle of our first harvested barrel to the Governor’s Office,” says Dan Healy, Head Distiller/Co-owner. “We felt that being the first distillery in the Capital Region, we should share this moment for family and small business with the community.” The 2018 Pennsylvania Farm Show week also marks the 2nd anniversary of Midstate Distillery’s cocktail lounge & tasting room. Brothers-in-law Healy & Myers purchased the former Smith Paint Building at 1817 N. Cameron Street in December 2013 and conducted major renovations to its interior before opening to the public in January 2016. “The past few years have flown by, but we’re proud of what we’ve done so far and excited for what’s ahead,“ says Healy. “Distilling is a young industry here in Pennsylvania, but it’s already starting to put out deep roots across the state. We’re excited to be a part of that growth and encourage our customers to continue to support local whenever possible.” The Distillery on Cameron Street houses Midstate’s production area where all of their spirits are currently produced or distilled, along with a cocktail lounge & tasting room that offers handcrafted cocktails, martinis, local Pennsylvania beers on draft and wine.
